Serration Cutting Tools

Schwanog from Germany offer Serration Cutting Tools on Turn Mill Centers.Conventio¬nal machining of Serrations on turned parts requires a separate process like Broaching or Milling. With Schwanog’s Serration Cutting ( Broaching ) Tools same is achieved on Turn Mill Centers in one set-up using Indexable Inserts having number of Teeth like roughing, semi finishing and finishing.This is a two step process. With the first step the spindle does not move and the tool feeds until full depth of first tooth of Serration is completed. With the second step the spindle starts indexing and suc¬cessive teeth are continuously machined until they are broached to finished depth.The advantages of this tooling system are that of significant cost savings due to set up time reduction and reduction of cycle time due to quicker production cycle.
